
CINA South Sudan led the task force in both preparation and launching of the 16 days Activism on Friday 25/11/2022. Other partners which participated includes Catholic Medical Mission Board and World Vision International lead task force in launching of commemoration of 16 Days of activism against gender based violence against women and girls in Western Equatoria, which was attended by over 600 participants 600 (150males, 250females, 70boys, and 130girls). The participants in the events were government officials, I/NGOs, CBOs, women associations, pupils of primary schools of St. Mary’s and Richland Primary Schools. The celebration was characterized by IDPs of TOB, St. Mary’s Complex, Barracks and host communities. Key speakers were acting Paramount Chief, CINA, Hon. Commissioner, World Vision International. The launching was successful and the celebration attracted huge number of participants from different diversity from Tambura County. CINA Project Manager Introduced the launching of 16 days of activism and she mentioned that this launching happens every year 25th Of November and ends of 10th of December every year, during this period activities of awareness, training of stakeholders is conducted to inform participants and the public about gender violence, she added that this year the theme for 16 days of Activism is Take responsibility: protect women and girls from Gender based violence. She added that taking responsibility means responding to GBV and preventing it from happening, she added that partners alone cannot prevent GBV, she added that as part of the Government support, there is need to promote girl child education and provide sponsorship for girls who have performed well as a means to encourage others to continue with Education. there is need for the intervention of the Government to reprimand the perpetrators of GBV. She further said that CINA will continue to create awareness on GBV in Tambura County.
